Finedon Festival Chorus
This has been established to sing for Festal Evensongs at St Mary's. Members consist of the choir of St Mary the Virgin, Finedon plus visiting singers from local choirs and the local area. The conductor is Robert Page and organist Jonathan Harris. Please get in touch if you are interested in coming to sing by emailing us.
Saturday 21 December - Come And Sing Messiah (part one) with carols at St Mary's, Finedon
Come and join us at St Mary’s, Finedon on Saturday 21st December, 2.30pm rehearsal followed by a 4.30pm performance of Handel’s Messiah (part one) along with three traditional Christmas carols. We have excellent professional soloists coming: soprano - Lauren Hollis, alto - Joanna Arnold, tenor - James Hutchings, and bass - Benjamin Ellis, accompanied again this year by a string ensemble led by Michael Needle, with Ivan Linford on continuo. I will be conducting.
There is no cost involved; donations at the door welcome. We expect to finish at 5.40pm.
If you would like to sing just let me know that you’ll be coming and remind me which voice part you sing! We are using the Prout edition of Messiah; if you have your own copy, please bring it along but, if not, we will have plenty of copies at church that you can borrow.
Dress code this year is a relaxed 'fairly smart'. The heating will be on!

Sunday 15th September - Festal Evensong as part of the church Flower Festival
Any visiting singers are welcome to join our enhanced choir to sing choral evensong on Sunday 15th September at St Mary's, Finedon. We rehearse on the day at 4.30pm before the 6pm service. Dress is choir robes, dark suits or all black. You're welcome to attend any of our Friday 7pm choir practices too.
Copies of the music are available from church or by email. The music includes Parry's Blest Pair Of Sirens, O Sing Unto The Lord by Chris Hutchings (a friend of the choir), Stanford's Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in C and the responses by Ayleward.

Sunday 2 June - Come and Sing Choral Evensong for RSCM Sunday
Visiting singers are welcome and invited to join us for a Come and Sing Evensong. 4.30pm rehearsal with music including MacMillan's O Radiant Dawn, Gorecki's Totus Tuus, Responses and Canticles by Tallis. Donations split 50/50 between RSCM and the church. Please let us know in advance if you are able to come and sing.
A Service of Readings, Music and Contemplation on Good Friday
Visiting singers are welcome to sing at St Mary's, Finedon, on Good Friday

Visiting singers are welcome to join us for this occasion. No cost. We will use the Prout edition of Messiah - we have plenty of spare copies if you need one.
The soloists are mostly the same as last year including Ben Ellis (bass), Stephen George (tenor) and Joanna Arnold (alto), with a string ensemble made up mostly of music college students led by Michael Needle. Dress is all black or dark suits.
